New Book from the Network: Urban Inequality

New Book: Christiane Reinecke, Die Ungleichheit der Städte. Urbane Problemzonen im postkolonialen Frankreich und der Bundesrepublik [The Inequality of Cities: Urban Problem Zones in Postcolonial France and the Federal Republic of Germany] (Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht, 2021).

Contemporaries in the second half of the twentieth century repeatedly turned to urban spaces in order to understand the challenges of their times. They turned urban problem zones, such as large housing developments or shantytowns on the outskirts, into experimental fields for observing and fostering social changes. Christiane Reinecke uses this fascination to argue for a spatially situated, knowledge-based view of social inequality. . . .
